The earth moved in bed last night. Unfortunately it was due to an earthquake. It was 3.6 but that’s pretty common when you live over a fault.
We visited Zealandia for a guided tour. Zealandia is a project to restore an area of nature to it’s pre-settler species of flora and fauna. Of course some are extinct now so that’s not possible. They have built an 8km surrounding fence and removed possums (from Australia), other mammals such as rats and mice (NZ previously had no mammals), and non-indigenous trees etc.
There are lots of birds and trees. It’s reassuring how quickly nature recovers when you do something like Zealandia.
The Silver back leaf has a very soft rear which was appreciated by the bushmen after a #2.

The Tuatara looks a bit like a “normal” lizard but is apparently a very primitive 200 million year old dinosaur.
