From Chaves, we crossed back over the border into Spain.
First stop was Carrión de los Condes.

Next was the beautiful city of Palencia.

From Palencia, we drove through the Rioja wine region.

Lots of vines laden with grapes. The harvest here is a bit later than the Duoro valley in Portugal.

We stayed in Camping Fuenmayor as a base. We walked from the campsite to the local village of Lapuebla de Labarca.

We went to Bodegas Luis Angel Casado, Jilabá for a winery tour and tasting. We were very lucky to be the only ones on the tour, and we had the daughter of the owner as our guide. In the afternoon, the tour was to have 56 people.

Our lovely hostess, the daughter of the owner
Next it was time for the wine tasting.

The wine was accompanied by a charcuterie and cheese platter

All done
I think our hostess was especially generous with the tasting since we were the only ones on the tour.
We walked (staggered?) in the other direction back past the campsite to the local town of Fuenmayor. We felt obliged to drink some more wine in a café. It was only €1 per glass!

We also visited Logroño, which is considered to be the capital of Rioja, but somehow I failed to take any photos. I must have been distracted by the multitude of wine bars.
