Careering Off – press Play

After nine months we have resumed our travelling back in SE Asia. We have prioritised the trip in case we have to come home early again. We restarted in Cambodia to visit Angkor Wat first.

We began with a couple of nights in the capital Phnom Penh. Crazy city. We had an intense day visiting Independence Monument, Golden Palace, National Museum, and various other temples. We didn’t visit any of the genocide sites. It’s very important that they’re there so we don’t forget, but the images in our heads were bad enough so we didn’t go.

It’s like Traffic Tetris! Scooters, Tuk tuks, and cars swapping places. Zebra crossings are just black and white lanes for scooters.

The money situation is a bit weird. They use the US dollar alongside their own currency – the Riel. ATMs pay out mostly in US dollars.

We flew on to Siem Reap – the setting-off point for Angkor Wat. We’ll be here for a few days.
