We headed by bus to Flores, the base town for reaching the Mayan pyramid site of Tikal. Tikal is perhaps the most majestic Mayan pyramid site, and is laid out following the Pleiades constellation in the same way that the Egyptian pyramids at Giza are laid out according to Orion.
Our guide was standing in the middle of the Plaza (see photo below), and when he clapped, a the sound of a Quetzal bird can be heard. How the Mayans engineered the pyramids to do this is amazing.
