There was lots of news from the UK re. post-Brexit/post-pandemic ferry and Eurotunnel chaos, so we decided that we should really book our return ferry. That would also help to direct our route. The best option was Hook of Holland to Harwich. That was cheap and also allowed us to avoid busy Dover and M25. So we were going to the Netherlands as well!
And so we would do France anti-clockwise. We would visit our friends Colin and Julia in Lot-et-Garrone, then Dordogne, then Burgundy. At least that was a rough plan to get going with.
After some nav errors that took us with the caravan on a diversion along single-track roads without passing places, we found the overnight transit site near Brou.
The next couple of nights were spent at Saint-Savin near Poitiers.

Campsite by an old mill

Town entertainment

Happy camper

Impressive old bridge

We paid a visit to Chauvigny.

Next stop was Le Blanc.

Maybe Ronnie is the Mayor?

Then back to Saint-Savin…

We then moved on to a campsite near Périgueux.

Périgueux is a beautiful old town.

Odd building

Curious cat

After Périgueux we reached our friends Colin & Julia in Nérac. They emigrated from Scotland about 4 years earlier to set-up an artists’ retreat named “Studio Faire”. We squeezed our caravan through the very tight gates into their “parc”. Their cat came to investigate.

Nérac is a wonderful, friendly town.

Breakfast time

Dougie cooling off in the heat
Colin & Julia very kindly took us on a tour. We first visited Penne d’Agenais.

… and climbed up to Notre Dame de Peyragude.

Cooling off

We returned via Pujols, and spotted some strange wildlife…

And of course we had a few nice meals, and more than a few glasses of wine.

Ronnie & Colin
Then it was time to move on and let them focus on their artist residents. Time to head towards Dordogne…
