Franschhoek (“French Corner”) was founded by the French Huguenots who fled France due to religious persecution. They were smart enough to bring some vines with them. Franschhoek’s in a valley surrounded by mountains and perfect for growing grapes.

Michelle and I both thought it felt a bit like Aviemore with wide street surrounded by mountains.
We took the wine tram (although it’s mostly a bus) which takes you round a number of vineyards . We visited 5 different vineyards tasting different wines at each one.

There was even an Indian restaurant, and since it was Friday, we decided to go for our traditional Friday night curry.
What a day! Wine tasting, beer tasting, and a curry – in beautiful surroundings, with my beautiful wife. Can life get any better?
