We enjoyed our final group dinner in Delhi. Unfortunately Carina and Tanya had to leave for their flight back to Germany. Ronnie wrote and recited the customary Purple Ronnie poem for the group. See below.

Rajasthan
A purple poem by Ronnie
Delhi a city very crazy
With pollution that makes it hazy
Constantly you can hear the hooters
From the many swerving scooters
Left and right you must look
To avoid the dodging Tuk tuk
You always wonder how
They all avoid the sacred cow
Lodhi gardens we could not miss
In the city a peaceful oasis
The locals they were very fond
Of photos of girls with hair of blonde
At Jama Masjid mosque on a mat
Many worshipers in prayer are sat
On the overnight train it was with dread
That we slept in a bunk bed
Jodhpur the city where the houses are blue
So Brahmans are just like me and you
To the fort Mehrangarh on a jeep
As the roads were narrow and steep
In Sadar Bazaar the clock tower
It does chime every hour
At Roopraj’s hamlet we did leave
With beautiful rugs that he did weave
Udaipur like Venice built on a lake
Its beauty does your breath do take
From the water the buildings white, shining in the morning light
On the bikes we had to stop for a pee
After drinking the Chai tea
In the evening at the Cooking class
Chapati making we did pass
On the bus it was quite far
To reach the village of Jojawar
Sahasra Bahu temple of falling stone
Where the idol’s long since gone
At marble stones you can look
To read the carvings like a book
Some of them they were quite rude
So look away if you are a prude
People come from near and far
For to pray at Pushkar
Of Bramha temples there’s only one they say
Where Hindus once in their life come to pray
Traders come from everywhere
To buy and sell camels at the fair
Through the desert by camel we did ride
Trying very hard not to fall off the side
Seeing the Magician we were enthralled
With tricks he played with his silver balls
In the dark with song and dance
They left us all in a trance
Jaipur the city of pink paint
To welcome Queen Victoria like a saint
For Albert a palace quite a sight
The lights change colour through the night
At the wind palace the fans no longer blow
On ladies hidden away from show
And then we came to Amer fort
Where the Maharajah held his court
Decorated with great splendour
With two sections for each gender
The Maharajah had a great life
A separate apartment for each wife
With a dress too heavy for heels
The Queen was pushed on a chair with wheels
With water channels everywhere
That’s how they conditioned the air
With a local guide in a Cantor
We looked for tigers in Ranthambore
We were all filled with glee, when some tigers we did see
We even saw a Sloth bear
Compared to tigers even more rare
Shan Jahan’s glorious triumph of his life
The Taj Mahal for his favourite wife
Shining marble in the sunlight
Truly a wonderous sight
Sidraj always looking smart
With stories told from the heart
Liz doesn’t know how to stop
When in the market she does shop
Poppy isn’t very good
At trying different types of food
Like Dora Viv has at her core
The desire to explore
Stefan needed lots of water
After eating the Chilli Pakora
Manuela on the bike got covered in dirt
Was it only mud on her shirt?
For Freddie it is a rule
That she must swim in every pool
Sandra wears a dress that flows
To keep cool in her clothes
Tanya doesn’t think it’s nice
To eat food with lots of spice
Carina was unfortunately feeling too poor
To see the sights of Jaipur
Steph’s mother didn’t teach her daughter
Not to keep losing her water
Tamara practising yoga you will find
Clearing her body and her mind
Sarah the Guinness she does miss
She thinks Kingfisher tastes of piss water
Ronnie thinks it’s always fun
To come out with a really bad pun
Udaipur cycling Michelle didn’t like
When she fell off her bike
Now with food and drink in our belly
We must all say goodbye in Delhi
Cheers!
