So from Burgundy, we had to decide how best to get to Hook of Holland and make best use of our remaining time. We decided that we wanted to have a good few days in one place before catching the ferry.
A lovely Dutch couple, Bas & Laureen, who we met on the campsite in Santenay, gave us some recommendations. So, working back, we would stay in Delft near The Hague for the last few days. Before that we would stay a couple of nights in Breda. They also raved about The Ardennes, so that would be our next – and last – stop in France.
We randomly found a campsite in Charleville-Mézières. The town is wonderful. Why isn’t it better known?
The river Meuse (Maas in Dutch) runs through it (between Charleville and Mézières).

By the river Meuse
The grand, well preserved main square in Charleville. It was very lively in the evening with various entertainment.

Over the bridge in Mézières…

Ronnie decided to cycle along the river to Sedan, 24km away, and Michelle would drive there and meet for coffee. Unfortunately he went in the wrong direction and reached Monthèrme instead. So now he was 47km from Michelle. Michelle wasn’t too impressed. They met back at the campsite in Charleville-Mézières and then drove back to Sedan again.

Sedan is a lovely medieval town with an impressive fortress.

The Ardennes was a lovely surprise. Without enough time to do it justice, we agreed that we would consider this as just the discovery tour. We would return.
