Pamukkale

We took another overnight bus to the world-famous site of Pamukkale. It’s the Unesco World Heritage site where the white travertines are found. The name means “Cotton Castle”. The white deposits on the mountainside are calcium carbonate from the thermal springs.

You have to take off your shoes to walk on the travertines.

Also at Pamukkale is the ancient Greco-Roman site of Hierapolis. The Romans liked their thermal spring baths.
