Van to Yerevan

We took a Marshrutka mini-van to Yerevan, across the border in Armenia. Yerevan is very close to the borders with Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkey. Yerevan is a cosmopolitan city.

Armenia is a country with a long history. It was the first country to adopt Christianity as a state religion.

The borders of Armenia have been constantly redrawn after a tumultuous history. Mount Ararat can be seen from Yerevan, the capital city. Ararat is however now in Turkey. Ararat was where Noah’s ark was grounded after the flood. The regions of Armenia are named after Noah’s sons and grandsons.

As normal when we arrive in a new city, we took a walking tour.

Armenians love fountains. Republic Square fountains dance and are lit up at night.
